Living Well Holistic Center changes face of geriatric care in Northwest Arkansas

November 18th, 2015

Gravette, Ark. – The Living Well Holistic Center, a Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program at OCH of Gravette, is changing the face of geriatric care in Northwest Arkansas.

The day program, which serves senior adults 65 years of age and older, opened August 24, 2015 and has been at capacity since the beginning. In the first two months, the center has graduated 17 geriatric patients and has added another therapist to increase the capacity to 20.

Senior adults receive a free medical and psychosocial assessment which allows the multidisciplinary group of providers to better serve the individual needs of the patients. The care team is composed of a psychiatrist, psychologist, LCSW, LMSW, activities coordinator and full nursing staff. New team member, Katherine Shook, LMSW, shares, “I’m really excited about joining this innovative outpatient program that provides truly individualized treatment in a comprehensive and integrative fashion making it unique in Northwest Arkansas.”

The program offers free transportation within 45 miles to and from Skilled Nursing and assisted living facilities to allow flexibility for individuals. By providing this transportation, the center alleviates the workload of those working in the facilities as transportation is often limited.

Susie Davis, care coordinator, adds, “The Living Well Holistic Center’s Goal is to be an alternative to inpatient psychiatric treatment, and the results have been positively amazing. We have an incredibly caring staff that has worked miracles with the patients.”

Ozarks Community Hospital is Expanding Services in the Coming Year

January 14th, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, January 13, 2013

GRAVETTE, AR – Ozarks Community Hospital of Gravette is expanding services to encompass a swing bed program, sleep lab, clinic specialists and additional nurse practitioners this year due to high volume in several service areas.

Ozarks Community Hospital of Gravette continues to gain patient volume in ancillary services, including the addition of an MRI last year. Our swing bed program will provide an extended care option to individuals who no longer need to be in an acute hospital setting, but are not able to care for themselves at home. We added two cardiologists, one orthopedic surgeon, and an ENT to our Gravette clinic to see patients on a monthly basis. And we are in the process of recruiting additional nurse practitioners to assist with the high primary care patient volume at the clinic.

Another change we made today is merging our medical inpatient unit with our Resolutions, a behavioral health unit. Due to this organizational change and minimal downsizing, our behavioral health patients will now be seen on the third floor for inpatient services.

OCH is proud to serve the northwest Arkansas region and looks forward to meeting patient needs for many years to come. For more information please visit www.OCHonline.com.

MRI Adds to Gravette Medical Services

March 22nd, 2011
For Immediate Release: March 4, 2011

GRAVETTE, AR – OCH expands radiology services with MRI unit onsite at Gravette hospital. Delivered Friday, February 25, the MRI is located between the hospital Emergency Room entrance and the OCH of Gravette Clinic. OCH maintenance staff are working diligently to get the MRI functional and easily accessible to patients.

The MRI uses a magnetic resonance to visualize detailed internal structures, and its primary function is to view soft-tissue based images. Unlike traditional X-Rays and CT Scans, it uses no ionized radiation, but due to the magnetic field, the machine must be in a building separate from the hospital.

“We look forward to offering the additional, much needed service to Gravette patients,” said Ronda Kreutzer, OCH of Gravette Radiology Manager. “Overall we’re very pleased with the unit and will be fully functional shortly.”

Kreutzer will be the primary MRI technician, and services will be available Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The MRI will be in full use within the month of March.

Technology advances services at OCH

Contact: Jayna Cardetti, Communications Coordinator 479-344-6464

Gravette, ARStarting Jan., 17, 2010, patients will benefit from computerized physician order entry (CPOE) at Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH). CPOE reduces errors caused by handwriting or transcription, decreases delays in order completion and improves efficiency by offering entry at point-of-care.

OCH’s first phase of EMR was implemented just before the New Year, which included a computerized order entry system for ancillary departments and electronic documentation for inpatient nursing and emergency departments. Full EMR implementation is scheduled to be completed by 2015.

“These changes provide a central storage medium that is uniform across the hospital so everyone accessing a specific patient is seeing the information they need to make the best care decisions possible,” said CPSI Administrator Todd Lutes, who currently is overseeing the EMR transition.

In addition to the EMR transition, the OCH of Gravette Clinic recently upgraded to a new telephone system. Along with the four full-time phone dispatchers now on staff, these improvements will enable patients to quickly schedule appointments and improve customer service.

CPSI is a healthcare software provider based out of Mobile, AL. CPSI has been developing information systems for the healthcare industry for more than 25 years and has more than 600 facilities running their applications.
