FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, March 18, 2013

Springfield, MO – Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH) was awarded accreditation from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) an independent accreditation organization recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It earned this distinction after HFAP conducted an extensive and objective review of hospital policies, quality and safety standards.

“Ozarks Community Hospital clearly demonstrates a commitment to quality patient care,” said Michael Zarski, CEO of HFAP. “We base our decision on federal standards, as well as recognized national standards for patient safety, quality improvement, and environmental safety. Ozarks Community Hospital met or exceeded standards in every case.”

OCH has been accredited by HFAP for 12 years.

“Our HFAP accreditation is the result of the many hours of hard work and dedication in combination with the great patient care that staff provides every day,” said Karla Myers, Chief Nursing Officer, who lead hospital accreditation efforts. “Receiving accreditation is a major achievement that demonstrates the hard work and effort put forth by all of our employees.”

The HFAP is a non-profit, nationally recognized accreditation organization. It has been accrediting healthcare facilities for more than 60 years and under Medicare since its inception. Its mission is to advance high quality patient care and safety through objective application of recognized standards. Its accreditation is recognized by the federal government, state governments, managed care organizations, and insurance companies.

Gravette, AR – Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH) recently received accreditation through the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). Earlier this year, OCH participated in a rigorous review process, with evaluators from around the country assessing the facility’s policies, quality and safety standards.

“Passing an HFAP accreditation survey demonstrates the hospital staff’s commitment to high quality care and patient safety in each and every department,” said Lorraine Oler, OCH Director of Nursing, who led the hospital accreditation efforts. “This is a major achievement that demonstrates the hard work and effort put forth by all of our employees.”

In order to receive HFAP accreditation, a healthcare facility must meet or exceed federal standards of patient safety and treatment, quality improvement, and environmental safety. “Ozarks Community Hospital clearly demonstrates a commitment to quality patient care,” said Michael Zarski, CEO of HFAP. OCH will have HFAP accreditation for three years.

HFAP is one of only three national voluntary accreditation programs authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to survey all hospitals and other medical facilities for compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

OCH of Gravette facilities include a 15 bed inpatient floor, 10 bed geriatric behavioral health unit and a 24-hour fully staffed emergency room. Other services include a primary care clinic, pain management clinic, physical therapy and various outpatient services such as lab and radiology. Visit OCH at www.OCHonline.com.
