Description of Service

The OCH Pain Management Clinic provides an integrated care approach that incorporates multiple treatment options to address the numerous problems that accompany chronic pain. A comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach is the most effective way to treat chronic pain patients who have not responded to other therapy modalities.

Dr. Jay Baker is a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist specializing in Pain Management. He received his education from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Botsford General Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Michigan. Dr. Baker is a member of the Spine Intervention Society and the American Osteopathic Association.

Specific Procedures & Injections

At OCH Pain Management, we work to be accurate and precise in pain management and treatment. To assist with this, many of our procedures are assisted with the help of fluoroscopy. Fluoroscopy is an imaging tool that allows the physician to look into spinal or skeletal areas, identifying specific areas of pain and isolating that area for precision of treatment. This allows delivery of optimal care and targets the source of pain. Conscious sedation is an option for most patients, to allow procedures to be performed more comfortably.

What to Expect at your First Visit

On the day of your first appointment, please bring a detailed list of your medications, including those you take on an “as needed” basis, over the counter medications and preparations, herbals, homeopathic, etc.

Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete the paperwork process with the receptionist and/or update your current information. Patients arriving more than 20 minutes after their appointment time will be rescheduled for a later date.

Our check-in process includes:

  • Making a copy of your insurance card(s) and a valid photo ID
  • Collecting insurance co-pay, if applicable
  • Verifying current address, phone number, insurance information and reviewing our clinic privacy and appointment policies

The nursing staff will obtain your weight and vital signs, document a detailed list of medications, collect information regarding sleep habits, alcohol and tobacco intake, extensive information about your pain and any new treatments you may have recently tried.

The physician will ask more questions, obtain details of your history, listen to your goals and perform a focused physical exam. He may order special imaging and other diagnostics necessary to provide an accurate diagnosis and ensure your safety when treatments are prescribed.
