 Medicaid Managed Care: Next Steps

This month, Missouri shifted its Medicaid patients from state-run coverage to private insurers (Plans include: Home State Health, MissouriCare and UnitedHealthCare). The move is part of an increasing privatization of Missouri’s Medicaid program, MO HealthNet.

You didn’t do anything wrong. This change was out of our control and out of your control! But, you do have a hand in what happens next.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

1)      COME SEE US!

We’re still here to care for you, same as always. Please continue to schedule appointments and see your OCH healthcare provider. We are in network, even if you hear otherwise.

2)      VERIFY YOUR PLAN

You can do this one of three ways:

  • OPTION A: Ask our receptionist to verify what plan you have been assigned to. We can do this for you today!
  • OPTION B: Call the MO HealthNet Care Enrollment Hotline at 1-800-348-6627.
  • OPTION C: Check your mail for a letter from MO HealthNet with details.

3)      VERIFY YOUR PROVIDER BY JULY 29, 2017

Most patients have had a plan and provider chosen for them. If it is not your current provider, you can request a change up until Saturday, July 29. After, your assigned provider will remain solidified.

Verify your provider by calling the hotline (above) or checking your mail.

4)      CHANGE YOUR PROVIDER (IF APPLICABLE)

If you were assigned an alternative provider, you have the power to select and OCH provider. You can do this by completing the PCP change form (ask our receptionist) or by calling the hotline (above).

5)      SPREAD THE WORD

Only 12% of brand new participants picked a plan proactively this year. The rest had a provider selected for them and may still be completely unaware. Take a flyer and let your neighbors know about the July 29 (90 day) deadline. It could help empower them to be proactive about their healthcare provider, just like you!
